Consultancy

I have conducted a wide range of short-term contracts for environmental NGOs and national parks, including training national park teams, designing and implementing cetacean surveys, interview surveys, and desk-based research and reporting. Social science research

I use qualitative methods to collect local ecological knowledge, but also to better understand the needs, challenges and experiences of communities and teams. I can assist with survey/ questionnaire design, field data collection, analysis and reporting

Training and field surveys

Training in marine mammal survey methods, cetacean identification and strandings response; interview survey techniques and community mapping. Past collaborators include Wetlands International (Senegal); WWF-West Africa and the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management (The Gambia)

Reporting and baseline studies

Desk-based studies, including baseline studies; report writing, formatting, copy-editing

Previous clients include the Wildlife Conservation Society, Blue Ventures, the Transform Bottom Trawling Coalition and Gorongosa National Park

Inclusive marine science

Developing guidance documents and delivering workshops on best practices in fieldwork, with a focus on menstrual health and inclusivity, for university research groups and other fieldwork practitioners
